Kimmel has also spoken publicly in the past about how long he wants to continue and about the attraction of eventually having more freedom outside a nightly schedule.

None of that, however, amounts to an official cancellation.

ABC Has Reasons to Keep Its Options Open

Jimmy Kimmel Live! is more than a nightly television show. It is an established ABC brand that generates viral clips, celebrity interviews, political monologues and awards-season moments that travel well beyond linear television.

That makes the decision complicated.
